The last time we were with Mary Shannon (MARY McCORMACK) and Marshall Mann (FREDERICK WELLER) Mary was not doing that spectacular. She was gunned down protecting a witness and was taken to the hospital. Well, I am happy to report that she made it through! After all, the show would only be half as fun without the feel good duo of Marshall AND Mary. IN PLAIN SIGHT also stars NICHOLE HILTZ, PAUL BEN-VICTOR, LESLEY ANN WARREN, CRISTIAN DE LA FUENTE (Zapato on my favorite PSYCH episode, AMERICAN DUOS) and JOSHUA MALINA. JOHN McNAMARA (THE FUGITIVE, EYES) joins the show as a writer and executive producer so you know this season is really going to be a hit. Guest starring this season will be RITA MORENO (CANE, THE GUARDIAN), ALLISON JANNEY (THE WEST WING, JUNO), STEVEN WEBER (WINGS, STUDIO 60), TESS HARPER (NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN, BREAKING BAD), JOSH COOKE (COMMITED, FOUR KINGS) and DONNIE WAHLBERG (THE SIXTH SENSE, NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK). LIZ PHAIR is also a new addition to the show as the music composer.
The season three premiere of IN PLAIN SIGHT teaches us one thing right off the bat, ski masks are always in season. Mary leaves the hospital and has vivid memories about everything accept what matters the most. Marshall enjoys his coffee and Danish with a smile and is in fact a Danish connoisseur. We are introduced to the three scariest words in the English language and who knew crossword puzzles could be so stinky. We meet Jimmy (DONNIE WAHLBERG), a bad boy with a good heart that did right to protect his son.
“Mary’s back,” Marshall exclaims as she exhibits her special blend of Mary charm. Mary has a fun way of looking at countertops and I can assure you that she will not be getting a greeting card endorsement anytime soon. Mary has a heart to heart with the Captain, well sort of you do know we are talking about Mary Shannon. Her mom pleads with her to quit her dangerous job.
If you are into Boston accents, this episode will really get your juices flowing. DONNIE WAHLBERG is the king of the Boston accent and well hell, shouldn’t he be? He does a stunning job portraying Jimmy a dethroned king of the shady back alley underworld.
In Mary and Marshall’s quest to find out who shot her it is confirmed that TITO is the favorite JACKSON and Marshall develops quite a fancy for green cashmere scarves. Marshall’s charm secures him a spot on the no visit list. Jimmy takes us on a stroll down Dumbass Boulevard and we know he means business. Mary and Marshall back him up by backing down. What a way to start out the season!
