FOX PRESS RELEASE:  BREAKING IN premieres on Wednesday, April 6th at 9:30/8:30 Central, following American Idol.  We have a seven episode run for this season, which will bring us through May 18th.  The show will be on after Idol for all seven weeks.  Contra Security, a high-tech security firm that takes extreme – and often questionable – measures to sell its protection services is corporate America’s answer to “The A-Team,” giving clients a sense of security by first ripping it away. In the opener, Contra’s man of mystery owner, Oz, blackmails his newest recruit, computer hacker Cameron, to join his team. Cameron quickly learns that cracking into state-of-the-art security systems is a lot easier than dealing with his co-workers, including the alluring Melanie, prank-pulling Cash and competitive Josh in the “Pilot” series premiere episode of BREAKING IN airing Wednesday, April 6 (9:30-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (BIN-101) (TV-TBA)  Cast: Christian Slater as Oz; Bret Harrison as Cameron; Odette Annable as Melanie; Alphonso McAuley as Cash.  Guest Cast: Michael Rosenbaum as Dutch; Trevor Moore as Josh; Jennifer Irwin as Creepy Carol.

BREAKING IN “Pilot” Series Premiere Advance Review, Airing 4/6/2011

BREAKING IN delivers!  I am a huge Christian Slater fan, so of course I was going to check it out no matter what but it honestly is one of the best comedy pilots that I have ever screened.  Christian plays Oz, the intriguing owner of Contra Security that you are dying to learn more about.  Oz is manipulative and refreshingly cheeky.  I can’t wait to see how his character develops and to find out exactly what is lurking underneath all that unbridled enthusiasm.  I can see a touch of J.D. from “Heathers” in Oz.   BREAKING IN was created by Adam F. Goldberg and Seth Gordon.  Adam Sandler, Adam F. Goldberg, Doug Robinson, Jack Giarraputo and Seth Gordon serve as Executive Producers.  BREAKING IN is from Happy Madison Productions and Sony Pictures Television.

The concept of BREAKING IN isn’t a new one but it is taken to another level with ingenious writing and exceptional character conception.  The Contra Security team gives their clients a firsthand look at the flaws that make them vulnerable.  The team works together and they break into places and steal everything from paintings to cars and they expose how even the most high-tech security systems can be conquered.

We get a slight taste of what Oz digs in women and it involves four of something a missing orifice.  We learn where his name comes from and it doesn’t involve “adult situations”.  Oz is a man of choice words and he brings up cuddling and being a prom date.  Taken out of context that sounds like a dream date and all of us would hunt down a prom dress toot sweet for that experience but alas, it is not as stated and not meant to be.  Oz is also obsessed with Sky Mall and his Captain’s chair. He is known for always getting his point across with a smooth, “I’ll allow it”.  You guys are going to really adore Christian Slater in this role.  Christian is so amazing doing comedy and this is one of my favorite roles that I have seen him in recently.

If Christian Slater isn’t enough to get you into this show, then I have a couple of words for you, Bret Harrison.  Bret is another one of my favorite characters from “Grounded for Life”.  Bret played Lily Finnerty’s eager neighbor, Brad O’Keefe.   Bret plays Cameron Price, a college student that is recruited by Contra Security for his unique computer skills and he can’t turn them down because he has already participated in the Goobers party.  This show just confirms my belief that you can never trust a man with a candy dish.

Trevor Moore plays Josh Armstrong, the “floppy haired” intel man and occasional foreign exchange student.  You may recognize Trevor from “The Whitest Kids U Know”.  Josh gives “Harry Potter” some extra special love in the episode.   I love his proclamation that is written off as “razzmatazz” by Oz.  That reminds me that I must incorporate razzmatazz into my daily conversations.  Keep an eye out for Josh’s equally inspiring tattoo and “gun rack”.  After watching one episode of BREAKING IN, I am a new Trevor Moore fan.

Alphonso McAuley plays Calvin ‘Cash’ Sparks, a William Shatner admirer, a “Star Wars” and “Star Trek” enthusiast and master prankster.  He can be found gloating and uttering the phrase, “Boom goes the dynamite”.  He has illicit Chunky relations.

Odette Annable plays Melanie Green, resident break in artist and safe cracker with an extra wild side and a boyfriend with an interesting past time.  Michael Rosenbaum plays Melanie’s boyfriend, Dutch.  Dutch builds flammable houses and collects clean waste.  I’m sure Dutch is the life of every party.  The characters in BREAKING IN are fun and I even enjoyed Creepy Carol’s (Jennifer Irwin) character because every office has at least one.

Now that you know a bit about the characters, I will quickly sum up the episode.  The team drops in on Cameron and recruits him.  They need someone with impeccable computer knowledge and he will become a key part of the security team.  Cash has a grand time pulling pranks on the newbie and Cameron is going to have to work hard to earn his respect.  As you can imagine, only hilarity will ensue out of that relationship.  The shenanigans that erupt between the two characters and the team as a whole are priceless and so well thought out.  They have to work together to complete the assignment.

Have you ever watched a commercial for a show or a film and it was so funny but when you watch the actual program you realize that they featured the best stuff in the previews?  This is not that show.  The commercials are funny but the show is even better.  They give away a few things in the previews but don’t worry, the entire show if full of comical goodness.  I can’t believe how good this show is.  I absolutely loved it.  I pretty much laughed the entire time and I know you are going to love it, too.  Do not miss the premiere of BREAKING IN on Wednesday night at 9:30 PM EST after AMERICAN IDOL only on FOX.
