TERRIERS FX PRESS RELEASE: Terriers from Creator/Executive Producer Ted Griffin (Ocean’s Eleven, Matchstick Men) and Executive Producer Shawn Ryan (The Shield), is a comedic drama starring Donal Logue (The Tao of Steve) and Michael Raymond-James (True Blood). It centers on “Hank Dolworth” (Logue), an ex-cop, who partners with his best friend “Britt Pollack” (Raymond-James) in an unlicensed private investigation business. Comedic, edgy, original, a show about high stakes in the face of low expectations, Terriers explores what it’s like in today's America to be “too small to fail.” Co-stars include Laura Allen (Dirt) as “Katie,” Britt’s girlfriend; Rockmond Dunbar (Prison Break) as “Detective Mark Gustafson,” former colleague of Hank; and Jamie Denbo (Weeds) as “Maggie Lefferts,” Hank’s attorney. Craig Brewer (Hustle and Flow, The Shield) directed the pilot episode. Terriers is produced by Fox 21.
TERRIERS “DOG AND PONY” Second Episode Review, Airing 9/15/2010
TERRIERS premiered last week on FX and from the response I have been getting, I know you guys love the show as much as I do. This week you are in for an extra special treat because “Dog and Pony” is such a fun episode. Shawn Ryan and Jed Seidel wrote this amazing episode and it was directed by Clark Johnson. Last week we met Hank Dolworth (Donal Logue) and Britt Pollack (Michael Raymond-James) and they took us into their world of license free private investigating. Hank and Britt provide us with the crime investigating mischief that has been missing in our lives. Even when they are doing things that are not necessarily legal they always have the best of intentions.
Hank and Britt appear at the Ocean Beach Police Department to give their depositions on the Lindus case. They are questioned about their involvement and of course they answer everything perfectly. Detective Mark Gustafson (Rockmond Dunbar) knows that they are dancing around certain circumstances but Britt and Hank keep their cool. The boys happen upon some information that will help them pick up some extra funds but things were a little misleading. Britt submits and gets read while Hank roughs things up a bit.
Britt and Katie (Laura Allen) adopt a dog that barks at its own doings. The dog decides to contribute in a real special way that takes things to a whole new level of intrigue. Britt ends up showing us a special side of him. In the end, he ends up getting blocked in a big way, poor Britt!
Hank and Britt attempt to muscle up some funds but the miscalculation is evident when they meet Montel in person. It turns into the best fight scene ever so don’t miss this episode. The boys end up being tossed in a familiar place. Katie shows us again how understanding she is and is even able to get in some special training.
Hank keeps putting himself in situations where he has to deal with his ex-wife, Gretchen (Kimberly Quinn) and you can tell it is breaking his heart. I don’t know why Gretchen would leave Hank for “Jason Voorhees”. There is something I just don’t like or trust about her new fiancé, Jason Adler. Maybe it is just because I have a sweet spot for Hank so I find myself rooting for him to get what it is he thinks he wants.
This episode ends beautifully and my favorite co-star is brought back into the picture. I can’t say enough good things about this show. There is not one thing that I would change about TERRIERS. The cast is perfect. The writing is interesting, thought provoking and fun. If you missed the premiere of TERRIERS last week then first of all, shame on you and don’t repeat your prior wrongdoings by missing TERRIERS this week. Watch TERRIERS on Wednesday nights at 10 PM EST only on FX!
