WHITE COLLAR is responsible for putting Tuesdays on the map with their sexy and enthralling capers. Move over MAGNUM, P.I. there is a new mustache in town and his name is AGENT PETER BURKE! Special Agent Peter Burke (Tim DeKay) earns your respect with his inept moustache display. NEED TO KNOW is my favorite episode of WHITE COLLAR to date and I know you will share my passion. It is thought provoking, humorous and captivating. Neal Caffrey (Matt Bomer) even takes his suit off to put on something a bit more fluffy and comfortable.
You have to admire the charisma of this cast consisting of Matt Bomer, Tim DeKay, Tiffani Thiessen, Willie Garson, Diahann Carroll, Sharif Atkins and Marsha Thomason because every moment they are on-screen something stupendous happens. They just meld together so perfectly and you can certainly tell that their chemistry off- screen is as impressive as it is on-screen. I have always been a fan of WHITE COLLAR but this season the show has just expanded into a masterpiece, Jeff Eastin you have outdone yourself!
NEED TO KNOW brings us into the world of political corruption, I know where did they get that idea from? Corrupt politicians, NEVER! Neal says it perfectly, “Politicians are the original conmen.” In order to get a foot in the door a new take on good cop, bad cop is played out but does it work or is it only “mildly irritating”, you be the judge? I will tell you one thing, if you ever find yourself in a room with Peter Burke don’t touch his puzzle.
In this episode, Neal is given a brilliant back story and a scholastic photo shoot to work off of. Neal goes in to “fix” things and even puts in some “really exciting” van time with Peter. The thing you have to love about Neal is no matter what goes down he always keeps his cool. I’m surprised they don’t have a cologne named after him, yet. Neal Caffrey, a spicy blend of vanilla, coffee beans and determination. Neal Caffrey always gets the job done.
Elizabeth Burke (Tiffani Thiessen) checks in on Peter from San Francisco. In real life, Tiffani took a short break from the show to tend to her growing family and hopefully, she will be coming back to New York City soon because I do miss her frequent interaction with the boys. My favorite scene with Elizabeth from last season is when she meets Mozzie (Willie Garson) for the first time and he introduces himself as “The Cleaner.” In this episode Peter finds himself in a bit of a pickle with Elizabeth and it is fun watching him try to talk his way out of it. He is so lucky Elizabeth is an understanding wife because this isn’t the first time he has had to tap dance.
In the premiere we saw that Diana Barrigan (Marsha Thomason) was the keeper of the music box and that led to so many questions. Diana demonstrates what a professional she is in this episode and we see a new side of her. Diana’s relationship with Peter is called into question. Neal is really happy to have Diana back and he displays his affection for her by being by her side. They got to talking and realized that they had so much in common including a love for art and hotel accommodations. Is there anyone that would not want to have story time with Neal in matching robes?
I am really enjoying the Peter and Mozzie bonding experience. They coexist again and in such a thrilling way that involves shoelaces, Sports Illustrated, a magnet, a $20 bill and more and of course it ends with a “pig.” Every one could use a little Mozzie in their lives. He just makes everything seem cooler!
In the end even Timmy Nolan makes out thanks to Neal. This episode not only gets two thumbs up from me but it even gives itself a, “wait for it” two thumbs up picture perfect ending. The ending of NEED TO KNOW had me in tears. What a remarkable episode and in case you “need to know” this episode will air on my birthday so I am going to ask for a Matt Bomer cookie cake. Join me Tuesday night at 9 pm in honor of the second episode of the second season of WHITE COLLAR on USA NETWORK!
