Communityis back!!! Thursday night, our favorite offbeat sitcom returns to NBC with “Urban Matrimony and the Sandwich Arts.” Fans of the show were concerned when it was announced that the series was benched by NBC a few months back, but three months later and the gang is back stronger than ever. In this episode, Shirley (Yvette Nicole Brown) is busy trying to start a sandwich shop on campus with Pierce (Chevy Chase) whose hair seems to change color through the episode. Shirley has also just been proposed to again by her ex, Andre (Malcolm Jamal Warner), and decides to have a Communitystyle second wedding. While Britta (Gillian Jacobs) and Annie (Alison Brie) work together on the wedding planning, Britta must face some dark truths about herself. Jeff (Joel McHale) has been asked to give the wedding toast, which goes against his personal beliefs. And Troy (Donald Glover) and Abed (Danny Pudi) attempt the near impossible by trying to be normal for Shirley’s wedding.

Some people have worried that the show would get watered down after the hiatus, but that’s just not the case. It’s rare that a show can make me guffaw out loud, but this episode did it a few times. Fans of Chang (Ken Jeong) might be a bit disappointed with this episode, but he’ll surely be back in full force in future episodes. In an episode with so much going on, some characters got left behind. It’ll be interesting to see what Community has in line for Dean Pelton (Jim Rash), now that he’s an Academy Award winning writer.
Community is one of those shows that you need to watch several times to catch all the things that you may have missed the first time around. That’s always the mark of something special. So tune in to Thursday night’s episode, and welcome back Community!
