An interview with PAUL MAZURKIEWICZ
Interviewed at the Comcast Theater in CT at the 2009 ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINK MAYHEM FESTIVAL
Interviewed by Brandon Lee

CANNIBAL CORPSE is noted as being one of the top-selling death metal bands of all time. They have been around for over two decades and have released eleven studio albums always containing some pretty snappy artwork. Their live shows are as indicative as their name, since CANNIBAL CORPSE fans are always ready to partake in some good old fashioned stage shredding action. Their new album, EVISCERATION PLAGUE is available everywhere on METAL BLADE RECORDS.
Brandon: So you are the longest lasting member of the longest lasting death metal band?
PAUL MAZURKIEWICZ: One of them. Alex [Webster] and I are the two original members. The band would be together 21 years this December.
Brandon: Cannibal Corpse is without a doubt the biggest death metal band and your fan base keeps growing, especially with kids. I would think that would have a lot to do with Metalocalypse, having your front man as the basis for a lead character of the cartoon.
PAUL MAZURKIEWICZ: There are a lot of different factors involved that helped our popularity. We’ve been around for 21 years, we were also in the movie “Ace Ventura: Pet Detective,” George (“Corpsegrinder” Fisher) voicing for Metalocalypse, and not to mention our artwork over the years has been controversial, which has been a key factor for Cannibal Corpse.
Brandon: So, I am to understand that (guitarist) Pat O’Brien is a snake collector?
PAUL MAZURKIEWICZ: He used to be. Not anymore,
Brandon: Is he still a lifetime member of the NRA?
PAUL MAZURKIEWICZ: Yeah, he is.
Brandon: What do you think he would say to the liberals?
PAUL MAZURKIEWICZ: I have no idea, man. He doesn’t talk much about a lot of things, and I am completely the opposite when it comes to any of that. I don’t own a gun, never have, and probably never will.
Brandon: Well, it must have been exciting to pull someone out of Nevermore!
PAUL MAZURKIEWICZ: I met him, and he was a huge Cannibal Corpse fan. He loved and started playing death metal at a young age. He was the best man for the job. He is an amazing guitar player, an amazing picker, his hands are incredible. He is made to play death metal.
Brandon: Thanks so much for the interview.
PAUL MAZURKIEWICZ: Thanks for the interview, and I am also thankful for all the fans of Cannibal Corpse, because without them we wouldn’t be here today.
