FUGITIVE CHRONICLES is a new series on A&E that gives us a behind the scenes tour of what goes into catching a fugitive.  The law enforcement and people involved delve into case files and whatever they have access to so they can get to their final goal which is to apprehend the criminal.  A new fugitive will be documented every week with real life facts reenacted.

One of the cases on FUGITIVE CHRONICLES deals with DANNY RAY HORNING.  Horning escaped from Arizona State Prison and was able to elude officials for two months.  One point that has been proven over and over again is that prison breeds super criminals.  While behind bars they are able to share stories and plot bigger crimes.  That happened in this case, Horning was given pointers on better ways to cover his tracks.  Horning had clever and resourceful ways of keeping the police several steps behind him.  Horning became known for his thankful ways and that quickly led to him being taken lightly and not as the serious criminal that he was.  It was then reported that not only was Horning wanted for bank robbery but also for murder.

Horning made his way to the Grand Canyon National Park where he took two hostages and decided to use them to his advantage.  There is a gas station shopping spree followed by a bigger hostage plan.  Horning is on the loose in the middle of the Grand Canyon during peak holiday vacation time.  As you can imagine, he has the run of the land with his pick of unsuspecting individuals.  He doesn’t count on a high speed chase but this case should be a wake-up call to all road block law enforcement agents.  Horning drops off some baggage and makes his getaway but when he decides to relax a patrolman saves the day.  Horning was happy with his two month vacation but, “would have liked to prolong it.”
