LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT returns for its ninth season and I can tell you one thing, get ready for some changes. It is still the same New York City crime drama that you have adored and nurtured from the beginning but with a changing of the guards. Some fans will find this disconcerting and I can understand that, but I think it could shed a new light on the show. Over the years the show has had an interchangeable amazing cast of characters and I think that is part of the charm of CRIMINAL INTENT. JEFF GOLDBLUM (JURASSIC PARK, EARTH GIRLS ARE EASY, THE FLY) reprises his role as Detective Zach Nichols and we will be introduced to Detective Serena Stevens played by SAFFRON BURROWS (BOSTON LEGAL, TROY, THE BANK JOB) and Captain Zoe Callas played by MARY ELIZABETH MASTRANTONIO (WITHOUT A TRACE, THE PERFECT STORM, SCARFACE). Some guest stars set to appear this season are DAN LAURIA, RALPH MACCHIO, DAN BUTLER and WILLIAM MAPOTHER.
Season nine gets off to an explosive execution style start. It is believed that someone involved with the Major Case Squad has sold their soul. Captain Ross (ERIC BOGOSIAN) accesses the situation on hand and Goren (VINCENT D’ONOFRIO) proves once again that he has a vast knowledge of pretty much everything, even how to wield a sword. Goren and Eames (KATHRYN ERBE) probe into files while waiting for winks and nods that never come. Goren goes above and beyond to lay down the law. Nichols comes prepared and offers his assistance. Our favorite DEXTER Sergeant Angel Batista (DAVID ZAYAS) shows up as Lieutenant Miles. The team ends up in an industrial warehouse and delves into a case of murder on the high seas. Goren uncovers some fishy evidence. The fearlessness of a psychopath is brought about and another victim emerges. It concludes with a confession but not really what the team had in mind. What will happen on the other side? To be continued…..
