TERRIERS FX PRESS RELEASE: Terriers from Creator/Executive Producer Ted Griffin (Ocean’s Eleven, Matchstick Men) and Executive Producer Shawn Ryan (The Shield), is a comedic drama starring Donal Logue (The Tao of Steve) and Michael Raymond-James (True Blood). It centers on “Hank Dolworth” (Logue), an ex-cop, who partners with his best friend “Britt Pollack” (Raymond-James) in an unlicensed private investigation business. Comedic, edgy, original, a show about high stakes in the face of low expectations, Terriers explores what it’s like in today's America to be “too small to fail.” Co-stars include Laura Allen (Dirt) as “Katie,” Britt’s girlfriend; Rockmond Dunbar (Prison Break) as “Detective Mark Gustafson,” former colleague of Hank; and Jamie Denbo (Weeds) as “Maggie Lefferts,” Hank’s attorney. Craig Brewer (Hustle and Flow, The Shield) directed the pilot episode. Terriers is produced by Fox 21.
TERRIERS “Hail Mary” Season One Finale Review, Airing 12/1/2010
Tonight we celebrate the season one finale of TERRIERS and I can’t wait until you see it. “Hail Mary” deals with future changing decisions that all boil down to the wrong or right turn. This pinnacle episode is written by Ted Griffin and Nicholas Griffin and is directed by Ted Griffin.
It seems like TERRIERS just started but now we have to say goodbye to Hank Dolworth (Donal Logue) and Britt Pollack (Michael Raymond-James) until next season. I’m pretty sure they will stay out of trouble until then but we are talking about Hank and Britt so you never know. I love this show and everything about it. I know I have said it a million times before. I must confess my love for such a brilliant show with characters so unique and beautiful that you become emotionally invested in them the moment they appear onscreen. Even if you can’t relate to the exact struggles of Hank and Britt you can certainly understand their pain.
Hank tears up the beach with “no worries” but it is all “cool”. Britt and Hank reflect on prior situations and on being “a fly or a fly with a heart condition”. We get to learn Britt’s true feelings about Canada and Hank shows us his sweet spot for Britt.
Hank goes to visit Detective Mark Gustafson (Rockmond Dunbar) and they have an interesting conversation about Hitler and Jesus. I was very excited to see Rockmond in the season finale. I always enjoy his screen time, especially with Donal.
Britt visits Katie (Laura Allen) and they have a talk about the things that went down with Gavin (Zack Silva). Britt puts it all out there and tells her exactly how he feels and what he doesn’t need to know.
While Hank is checking in on Gretchen he gives her something to hold onto and delivers one of the most powerful lines in the episode, “Because you know you can.” It doesn’t sound like much taken out of context but when you see the scene you will realize how beautiful it is so keep a look for that.
One of my other favorite cast members appears in the finale and helps Mark determine who is who. Hank is given a clue to who is behind the murder of his friend Mickey.
Britt goes to Ashley’s house to see if she could help since he was sent by Zeitlin (Michael Gaston) to “scope her out” she may know more than she thinks. Britt gets some interesting information and when he meets up with Hank things get pretty hairy. Another person from the past appears and the boys work together to gather some freeing facts that involve Hank and a PB&J. Britt gets questioned by the authorities, yet again while Hank is off somewhere having a “Holy shit” moment. When will they ever learn that they “have to stop splitting up” but at least later on Britt gets to unleash his “just on general principle” fists of fury. They get taken to the boss and no, not that Bruce fellow but the puppet master that boasts about spectacularly ignorance. The good news is that Hank has a photo collection.
This episode is the perfect way to end the first season and it leaves us wondering how it will all turn out for Hank and Britt. They did a perfect job of keeping me in suspense throughout the entire episode and now I really can’t wait for season two of TERRIERS. The show is fantastic and I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Donal and Michael in person and they are amazing people that genuinely enjoy each other’s company and appreciate their fans. So please, support TERRIERS so we can all share in several seasons of love, mischief, action and crime solving delight. Don’t miss the season one finale of TERRIERS tonight on FX.
