THE LEAGUE OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE: Fantasy football is supposed to provide an outlet for good-natured competition and camaraderie between friends and colleagues, but that’s not always the case. In FX’s comedy series, The League, deception, one-upmanship and a win-at-all costs mentality rule the day on the virtual gridiron and then extend into personal relationships, marriages and the workplace. The League was created by the husband-and-wife team of Jeff Schaffer (Curb Your Enthusiasm, Seinfeld) and Jackie Marcus Schaffer (Disturbia, Eurotrip) who serve as executive producers and directors. The series is produced by FX Productions.

“VEGAS DRAFT” THE LEAGUE Season 2 Premiere Episode Review, Airing 9/16/2010

Fantasy football has just gotten a whole lot cooler with the return of THE LEAGUE on FX! The season two premiere of THE LEAGUE takes us to Las Vegas for a little “Vegas Draft.” Chad Ocho Cinco guest stars as himself. What do you think the boys are going to do in Vegas? Ruxin (Nick Kroll) is still unsure but someone is hooking him up. Going to the airport with these guys seems like a win and I think it is sweet that they still remember each other’s birthdays.

I was happy to hear one of my favorite clowns referenced, “Homey D. Clown” from “In Living Color”. Poor Andre (Paul Scheer) can’t seem to catch a break and he needs to channel his inner Aretha Franklin. Andre ends up making this one unforgettable episode.

We are in Vegas so of course strippers are involved and for once they are needed more for their brains than their bodies. It is also nice to know that the boys “don’t cross streams”. Rafi has some strange ideas about pool rules that could lead him to a starring role if “Caddyshack” was ever remade. Taco (Jon Lajoie) is forever searching for the perfect ringtone and someone stumbles upon it for him. He puts his talents to good use and adds an excellent flavor of fun to the Vegas experience.

The one thing I really like about THE LEAGUE is that you really don’t have to be a sports fan to get enjoyment out of the show. The show is so well written and hilarious thanks to Jeff Schaffer and Jackie Marcus Schaffer that it doesn’t matter what your sports background is. Watch THE LEAGUE on Thursday nights at 10:30 PM EST only on FX!
