JUSTIFIED FX RELEASE: Developed by Graham Yost (Boomtown, Speed) and starring Timothy Olyphant (Damages, Deadwood), Justified is based on the works of crime novelist Elmore Leonard, including Leonard's short story Fire in the Hole. Fresh off the epic gun battle that concluded season one, season two of Justified finds Bo Crowder dead, and the Crowder criminal grip on Harlan County broken. Deputy U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens (Olyphant) must now face off against the criminal organizations that are moving to fill the void, and finds himself entangled once again with the mercurial Boyd Crowder (Walton Goggins). The series co-stars Nick Searcy (CSI) as Givens' longtime friend and boss 'Chief Deputy Art Mullen;' Jacob Pitts (21) as 'Deputy Marshal Tim Gutterson;' Erica Tazel (Life) as 'Deputy Marshal Rachel Brooks;' Joelle Carter (CSI: Miami) as 'Ava Crowder;' Boyd Crowder's sister-in-law; and Natalie Zea (Hung) as Raylan's ex-wife 'Winona Hawkins.' Walton Goggins (The Shield) also stars as 'Boyd Crowder.' Yost (Boomtown, The Pacific, Band of Brothers) wrote the pilot and serves as Executive Producer/Writer on the series. Leonard (Cuba Libre, Rum Punch, Get Shorty) is also an Executive Producer on the series along with Fred Golan (Boomtown, Raines), Sarah Timberman (Kidnapped), Carl Beverly (Kidnapped) and Michael Dinner (Karen Sisco), who directed the pilot episode. Justified is produced by Sony Pictures Television and FX Productions.

JUSTIFIED “The Life Inside” Season Two Episode Two Advance Review, Airing 2/16/2011

JUSTIFIED came back to us last week and Raylan Givens exposed us to all of the eccentric elements that make JUSTIFIED so captivating. This week’s episode is even better and it takes us into the world of human trafficking and second chances. “The Life Inside” – Raylan chases a pregnant fugitive who has fallen into the hands of human traffickers. Written by Ben Cavell. Directed by John Avnet.

Mag’s boys, Dickie (Jeremy Davies) and Coover (Brad William) are on disposal duty and they make a very grave error that you know is going to come back to haunt them.

My favorite character, Boyd (Walter Goggins) comes out of a hole only to find Raylan (Timothy Olyphant) waiting for him. We get a little insight on what Raylan’s fears are and I can tell you they are not, “heights, snakes or red headed women.” Raylan gives Boyd some sound advice, “Life don’t hand out many second chances”. Do you think Boyd will follow it or does he have something else planned? That is the reason why I love Boyd so much because you really never know what is going on in that mind of his. I have a feeling he is going to break and it is going to be monumental. Boyd is the car crash that you can’t look away from.

Raylan has to stop by Arlo’s (Raymond J. Barry) to explain to him what under house arrest really means because he doesn’t understand the concept of “you’re violating”. Good thing Raylan knows how to keep his cool because if I was in his shoes I would break and that is not even mentioning the ulcer bigger than the state of Kentucky that I would be harboring. Arlo also has a message about Mags (Margo Martindale) for Raylan.

Mags questions Loretta (Kaitlyn Dever) about what happened to her and she offers her apology for not protecting her from the pervert. She also fills her in on her father’s journey. Mags is the one character that really creeps me out this season. You would think it would be the rat swinging son of hers but she really gives me the willies. How do you feel about Mags?

Raylan and Winona (Natalie Zea) have such an interesting relationship. When they put the sexual brakes on they usually end up in a fight and with sentiments such as, “Sometimes I look at you and I don’t ever want to see you again”. It is clear why they don’t fit together perfectly. One of the best scenes is when Gary Hawkins (William Ragsdale) runs into Winona and Raylan in the elevator and he pays her a compliment. You’ll understand when you see it. I don’t want to give it away.

Raylan and Tim (Jacob Pitts) are assigned to bring a pregnant inmate to the doctor’s for her checkup and Art (Nick Searcy) jokes that they should bring plastic and towels to put on the backseat just in case things go south. You know things are going to go south because that is what makes for compelling television. Raylan and Tim are not very comfortable with the waiting room situation but some quick thinking assists later on. Tim ends up earning his title in the end.

Cassie (Jes Macallan), the pregnant fugitive, is having second thoughts and isn’t sure who she can trust with her life and the life of her unborn baby. The plan that was in place has taken a very disastrous turn.

Raylan and Tim are looking into the escape and they question a guard about it. Raylan issues a statement to the guard, “Shut the hell up or Tim is going to hit you in the face.” So, as you can tell things went according to plan. What is really unsettling but also understandable is the prison guard’s wife’s plea to Raylan.

In the end, we are left with an interesting conversation between Gary and Raylan that will stir up some thoughts. Raylan mentions to Winona the moment he knew their marriage was doomed. Winona fascinates him with what she can’t handle.

JUSTIFIED always delivers and you don’t want to miss a single episode so watch it Wednesday nights at 10 PM EST only on FX.
