USA NETWORK PRESS RELEASE: PSYCH is a quick-witted comedy/drama starring James Roday as young police consultant Shawn Spencer who solves crimes with powers of observation so acute that Santa Barbara PD detectives think he’s psychic. Psych also stars Dulé Hill as Shawn's best friend and reluctant sidekick, Gus, and Corbin Bernsen as his disapproving father, Henry, who ironically was the one who honed his son's "observation" skills as a child. Also featured are Timothy Omundson, Maggie Lawson and Kirsten Nelson. Psych was created by Steve Franks ("Big Daddy"), who also serves as executive producer, along with Chris Henze and Kelly Kulchack, in association with Tagline Television and NBC Universal Television Studios. Co-executive producers include Saladin Patterson ("Frasier") and Josh Bycel ("American Dad"). Serving as producers are Andy Berman, Anupam Nigam and Kell Cahoon. Tim Meltreger is staff writer. Shawn and Gus return to Vancouver to visit their old nemesis Despereaux in prison at the felon's request, who then uses them to escape and pull one last job before he is extradited to the United States. Only while he is out, he is framed for the murder of a Crown Attorney and now asks the guys for help clearing his name of this most recent – and frankly unseemly – charge. Cary Elwes guest stars in "Extradition II: The Actual Extradition Part," premiering Wednesday, November 10 at 10/9C!
PSYCH “Extradition II: The Actual Extradition Part” Fall Season Premiere Episode Review, Airing 11/10/2010
PSYCH Season 5.5 is upon us and it brings us back to Canada in the fall premiere entitled, “Extradition II: The Actual Extradition Part”. Our favorite art connoisseur and possibly “the greatest thief that ever lived” Despereaux (Cary Elwes) returns and he wants to hang with Shawn (James Roday) and Gus (Dule Hill). Time goes by so fast and it seems like they never really left Canada. I was hoping to see Shawn and Gus ski again because they were so incredible last time so I figured they were practicing to show up their earlier episode selves. The skiing never happened but a whole bunch of other stuff did and what a sweet ending!
Shawn’s derriere dialing ropes him into a conversation with his father (Corbin Bernsen) about his personal interests. Buzz (Sage Brocklebank) wants to help Shawn and requests that he run the matter by him. Buzz means well but his help could have lead Shawn down an awkward path.
Gus and Shawn were invited to Vancouver by their old nemesis, Despereaux and of course they could never turn down a vacation getaway courtesy of a felon. Despereaux wants to meet with them in prison and that leads Shawn and Gus into experiencing “the weirdest twenty six minutes” of their lives followed by an impromptu twelve hour stroll. Despereaux uses the boys to make his escape to pull one final job prior to his extradition to the United States. At least Despereaux is always courteous and knows the manner in which to shiv someone that would only leave them down for a few weeks. Gus finds outs the hard way what bark tastes like. Luckily, Shawn and Gus are able to make their way to the office of Mackintosh (Peter Oldring) to talk about Despereaux’s escape. Mackintosh is not so stoked to see them since their last meeting and then he is called to the scene of an art robbery. Gus and Shawn tag along with him and they discover a body.
Desperaux insists that he is being framed and wants Shawn and Gus to help clear him. We find out about the gift exchanges that went down and that love no longer exists. Luckily for Gus, he waxes his head or things could have gotten really ugly. Desperaux is either a George Michael fan or he really has “faith” that things will go well for him.
One of my favorite things about PSYCH is the creative names that they give each other and this episode has a good one. What has been your favorite alias of the series?
Lassie (Timothy Omundson) is his typical happy self and he is really concerned about Juliet’s female troubles or perhaps not. Lassie is by far one of my favorite characters. Just stop and think for a moment of all the love, laughter and lessons that would be missing if Carlton Lassiter was not a part of PSYCH, you’re welcome for the reminder of how incredible he is. Seriously, Lassie is love and someone has to keep the squirrels from taking over the universe.
Is it too late for Shawn and Juliet (Maggie Lawson)? You remember that passionate kiss that they exchanged at the end of the summer season. What are your thoughts about their relationship and if she should dump Declan (Nestor Carbonell)? I am not a Declan fan and after all did you see how much he ordered Curt Smith around? No one should treat Curt Smith like that! What if he treats Juliet like that? Not on my watch so I am making my opinion known that Juliet should never see Declan again. Shawn is much better looking and they should really be together!
The fall premiere of PSYCH is fun and Cary Elwes does an awesome job bringing Desperaux back and did I mention that it ends in a photo finish moment that you are not going to want to miss. Watch PSYCH Wednesday nights at 10 PM EST only on USA NETWORK!
