SONS OF ANARCHY FX OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE: FX's original series, Sons of Anarchy, is an adrenalized drama with darkly comedic undertones that explores a notorious outlaw motorcycle club's (MC) desire to protect its livelihood while ensuring that their simple, sheltered town of Charming, California remains exactly that, Charming. The MC must confront threats from drug dealers, corporate developers, and overzealous law officers. Behind the MC's familial lifestyle and legally thriving automotive shop is a ruthless and illegally thriving arms business. The seduction of money, power, and blood. Jackson ‘Jax' Teller (Charlie Hunnam) is the MC's vice-president who is tested by his growing apprehension for its lawlessness, Gemma Teller Morrow (Katey Sagal) is Jax's force-of-nature mother, and Clarence ‘Clay' Morrow (Ron Perlman) is Jax's stepfather and MC president. The triangle of Mother, Son, and Stepfather will ultimately reveal the dark secrets in this family's past and the lengths they will go to protect their sins. This season begins with SAMCRO feeling powerless over Abel's kidnapping, especially Jax, whose grief sends him into deeper turmoil over his future with the club. The search for Abel sends our guys to Ireland, where Jax faces not only the Irish Republican Army, but an untold personal history as well. Meanwhile, still on the lam, Gemma is hit with some unexpected news and risks her freedom to deal with it.
“SO” SONS OF ANARCHY Season 3 Premiere Episode Review
SONS OF ANARCHY returns in a monumental way! Last season they left us in an unbearable state. I can’t think of a show that is more committed to keeping their viewers on the edge of their seats. KURT SUTTER is amazing beyond words and what he has done with SONS OF ANARCHY has changed television forever. Everything about S.O.A. is just perfect from the writing to the way it is filmed. You really find yourself vested in the characters and what they stand for. I will be honest, I started watching the show because of CHARLIE HUNNAM because let’s face it, Charlie is as stunning as a man can be but to my surprise I was instantly caught in the web that is S.O.A. SONS OF ANARCHY is more than just a show about a motorcycle club, it is a show about the exploration of every facet of human emotion. I can’t think of a show that sucks me in more and the people that I mention the show to feel the same way.
Season three brings back and takes away some of our favorite characters but don’t worry, some new ones appear. You will have to watch the season three premiere to get the answers you want. Jax Teller (Charlie Hunnam), Gemma Teller Morrow (Katey Sagal), Clay Morrow (Ron Perlman), Tara Knowles (Maggie Siff), Tig Trager (Kim Coates), Bobby Munson (Mark Boone Junior), Chibs Telford (Tommy Flanagan), Juice Ortiz (Theo Rossi), Opie Winston (Ryan Hurst), Piney Winston (William Lucking), Chief Wayne Unser (Dayton Callie), Nathaniel Mador (Hal Holbrook) and Jimmy O. (Titus Welliver) are a few of the stars of S.O.A. I could go on for pages just discussing how well this show is cast. Every detail of SONS OF ANARCHY is pertinent to the storyline and so well thought out that it actually makes it one of the most difficult shows for me to review because I do not want to give anything away.
We begin with a recap of where we left off last season, Jax’s scream of fury over the kidnapping of his son. In “So” Jax has to come to terms with what has happened and keep himself thinking as straight as he can. The camera work on this show is amazingly crafty and to illustrate that there is a shower scene that captures the water falling just perfectly and in such a clever way. Gemma is on the lam after being setup by Agent June Stahl (Ally Walker) which later leads her to reunite with someone close to her. Jax and Tara have a deep discussion about belonging. We get re-introduced to a politician in the first power. The boys go back to where it all began to look for answers and it turns into some fantastic chase music. Clay strong arms the law and does what he can to keep his family safe. An appendage is almost lost at the scene of robbery. I was so happy to see Chucky (Michael Ornstein) in the premiere and boy is he a trooper, he has been through everything, a fire, the loss of his fingers and so on. Tragedy brings the MC closer together and it helps them to put what is really important in perspective. I did not see the ending of this episode coming but let me tell you it is suspenseful, to say the least. Tune into the season three premiere of SONS OF ANARCHY on September 7 at 10 PM EST on FX.
