One of this fall season’s most critically acclaimed dramas, WHITE COLLAR focuses on the most unlikely of partnerships between a con artist (Bomer) and an FBI agent (DeKay). This exciting crime drama, which was one of cable’s #1 shows for 2009, returns with more intrigue and all new cases. In the mid-season cliffhanger, our beloved Mozzie (Garson)’s life lies in the balance after being gunned down by an unknown assailant. When we return, his survival is in question as Peter (DeKay) and Neal (Bomer) set out to find his shooter and work tirelessly to solve the mythology storyline of who killed Kate. There’s plenty of intrigue on the Peter and Neal front as we see them swap identities to solve a case and then get a look back in time to learn how all our characters came together in the first place. This exciting second half of season two features guest stars Andrew McCarthy, Hilarie Burton, Diahann Carroll, Richard Schiff, Paul Blackthorne, Billy Dee Williams, Ross McCall, Adam Goldberg, Gloria Votsis and Alexandra Daddario.

WHITE COLLAR “Burke’s Seven” Winter Premiere Review, Airing 1/18/2011

WHITE COLLAR is back and just in time to help get your blood flowing again. Jeff Eastin should be ashamed of himself for leaving us in such disarray. Anyone but Mozzie come on, I know I am not the only one that has a sweet spot for him. Mozzie (Willie Garson) is the perfect character, mysterious, philosophical, brilliant and he also possesses the most glorious cranium in television history, sorry Gus (Dule Hill). Everyone needs to unite and send positive thoughts Mozzie’s way. In case you missed the summer finale of “White Collar” Mozzie was shot in the chest and that is how the episode concluded. We have been waiting to find out about Mozzie’s health crisis and Tuesday you will get your answer. You really don’t think I am going to ruin it for you now, do you?

One thing I truly enjoy about “White Collar” is that it is actually filmed in New York City so the scenery is stunning and legit. I could not imagine it taking place anywhere else. The historic locations and elements of the city ad that extra component of charm, that has helped push the series to the top of everyone’s no to miss list. The cast is absolutely perfect and Matt Bomer was born to play resident good guy con man, “Neal Caffrey”. His sparkling blue eyes hold the key to him never having to say he’s sorry. “Peter Burke” (Tim DeKay) can’t stay mad at him and has learned that it is easier and far more fun to work with him than against him. Peter has even accepted Mozzie into his life.

As the hunt for Mozzie’s shooter takes place, we get to witness a very unique way to distribute business cards. New aliases are developed and the “Invisible Man” will return. Neal finds himself in a complicated situation but he doesn’t face it alone and decides to bring in backup and this is where the fun begins. Peter offers Neal some of the best advice yet, “Get a dog”. The music box is the gift that keeps on giving and its mystery is still not fully resolved.

Larsen returns and he is all about deception and knowing exactly which finger to point. His plan is put into motion and it forces the teaming of seven individuals that unite to form the Burke Seven. What a team they are so I hope we get to experience more of them in upcoming episodes.

One of the highlights of the episode is the return of Sara Ellis (Hilarie Burton) who finds herself in a “shotgun marriage”. It’s always a pleasure to see Elizabeth Burke (Tiffani Thiessen) lending her brilliance to the team and actually being present in a scene rather than digitally transmitted. Yeah, I know she wasn’t a hologram before but the green screen was just odd in the earlier episodes. Another highlight was the mode of transportation that Peter commandeered. He discussed it in an interview call that I did with him and it was just priceless to hear about, so read the interview to figure out what he will be commandeering. The most intriguing introduction of the series is established. We meet the man behind the man, Vincent Adler (Andrew McCarthy). I do believe it’s safe to assume that we are going to be enjoying a hearty dose of the incredible Andrew McCarthy for the next few episodes.

I really enjoyed the winter premiere of “White Collar” and the camaraderie among the team. I can tell you that next week is the long awaited back story episode, which has moved its way up to my favorite episode of the series, so far. I will write about that one next week but for now, you can take a swig of “Burke’s Seven” and hopefully it will hold you over until Tuesday night at 10 PM EST for the return of WHITE COLLAR only on USA NETWORK.
