METALLICA

TD BANKNORTH GARDEN in BOSTON, MA
JANUARY 18, 2009
Review and Photos by:  Lena Lamoray

METALLICA opened the night with an impressive coffin laser light show and kept the high energy pace all night long.   ROBERT TRUJILLO was so full of energy he made me sweat. He has to be one of the most energetic bass players ever.  In fact, every member of METALLICA performed harder than most of the teenaged bands out there.  You may be purchasing a ticket for a show but you go on a journey to a METALLICA utopia, if you will.  They sounded phenomenal and the crowd eagerly awaited the classics.  Fan or not you can’t take away the fact that METALLICA altered music history and have become a legendary metal band.  There was not an empty seat in the building and rightfully so.  METALLICA does not take anything for granted and has earned their spot at the top.  Everything is bigger in METALLICA world, in fact, my photo pass doubled as a tube top!  Everyone should witness METALLICA live.

MUDVAYNE

MUDVAYNE stole the show with their unique musical concoction. CHAD GREY opened the show as an anthropomorphic's dream date.  The astonishing musicianship continued throughout the entire show and I will admit that the bass player, RYAN MARTINIE, was my favorite.  He played insanely complicated riffs without even breaking a sweat.  MUDVAYNE offers up such a hearty serving of metal that they will keep people coming back for seconds.

COMBICHRIST/BLACK LIGHT BURNS & ACEY SLADE

I have never seen a line-up this promising…ACEY SLADE, BLACK LIGHT BURNS and COMBICHRIST together at IRVING PLAZA in NEW YORK CITY.   What a show and did I mention that I gave up the chance to photograph BARRY MANILOW to come here….yes, you read that right…I missed out on the MANILOW.
The night started out promising with the abs of steel, expectorate extraordinaire ACEY SLADE and his band of misfits consisting of the very talented CHRIS KLING(also in THEO & THE SKYSCRAPERS), ANDEE and PerC.  ACEY SLADE bestowed his own very special brand of vampiric goth rock to the audience and they devoured it.  This is a new project for ACEY and I am looking forward to watching it transcend to a deeper level.

POWERMAN 5000

LIVE in Cambridge, MA February 2009
Photos and review by Lena Lamoray

POWERMAN 5000 played some new material and some guaranteed crowd pleasers to a full house on Monday night.  SPIDER ONE was full of charisma but on a personal note I would be lying if I said I didn’t miss ADRIAN and SIGGY.  SIGGY was just a phenomenal bass player and performer and really added an extra edge to the sound as did ADRIAN.  That being said, I still love them and the show was spectacular and there was a special twinkle across the stage known to you laymen as VELKRO (DAVE PINO).   I have come to learn that you can NEVER go wrong with a PINO.  Just when you thought the show was over they came back on for an encore and all of the members with the exception of SPIDER ONE (would you put anything over that foxy face) had helmets on with glowing eyes.  Do yourself a favor and go see POWERMAN 5000 live!!!

Live Reviews

The day started with ARMOUR FOR SLEEP and ended with LINKIN PARK.  CHESTER and crew were fantastic as always and they featured the STREET DRUM CORPS in the beginning of their act. STREET DRUM CORPS are just so compelling to watch and they always add that extra special icing to any project.

I witnessed greatness in what I have to say was the best show of my life at the TD BANKNORTH GARDEN in BOSTON, MA.  Seventeen years was far too long to wait to see the one and only GEORGE MICHAEL.The man is magical and I didn’t think that he could ever surpass his recordings live and he did.

I got the honor of photographing ALICIA KEYS in Boston, MA at The TD BANKNORTH GARDEN and I have to tell you she is one amazing woman. Not only did she radiate self confidence but she had the voice to back it up.
