MUDVAYNE
LUPO’S in Providence, RI
March 4, 2009
Review and photos by Lena Lamoray

IN THIS MOMENT opened the show and the band was heavy but melodic, which is a good thing, and I was very pleased that the front woman, MARIA BRINK, actually sang instead of screamed the entire time.  There are so few heavy metal female singers that can incorporate both and do it commendably.  On a side note, how can I not enjoy and band that has a fondness for bunnies!

NONPOINT has a huge fan base in Providence and the crowd was sold from the first note uttered by, ELIAS SORIANO to the last.  ELIAS’s vocal power was astonshing and I can say that they were definitely the most infectious band of the night.  They even incorporated some audience participation in their cover of IN THE AIR TONIGHT by PHIL COLLINS.

MUDVAYNE stole the show with their unique musical concoction.  CHAD GREY opened the show as an anthropomorphic's dream date.  The astonishing musicianship continued throughout the entire show and I will admit that the bass player, RYAN MARTINIE, was my favorite.  He played insanely complicated riffs without even breaking a sweat.  MUDVAYNE offers up such a hearty serving of metal that they will keep people coming back for seconds.

e right!
