Harper’s Ferry in Allston, MA
Live Photos & Review by Lena Lamoray
If you didn’t attend this party then you missed out! If there is one thing that the PINOS know it is how to throw a party. The soiree was BACK TO THE FUTURE themed but ended up entertaining a plethora of 80’s characters and extinct celebrities like ELVIS, MICHAEL JACKSON, ABRAHAM LINCOLN, etc. Where else could you get a prom photo with Orangutan DAVE PINO and MICHAEL JACKSON other than a PINO party? The all-star cover band lineup consisted of WEEZER with a chick and no sweaters, ZZ TOP with real beards and no chicks, a multicultural RAMONES, PAT BENATAR, THE RAMONES, VAN HALEN without the splits but unfortunately the spandex and you would think after all these years that BILLY IDOL would remember his own lyrics and his accent. Public Service Announcement: Kids take note that even BILLY IDOL can NOT perform drunk so think before you drink!!
This brings us to the reason for the season WALTHAM! They had the original lineup of WALTHAM with guitar god DAVE PINO who is currently in POWERMAN 5000 and was in at least fifty other bands like SEEMLESS and DAMONE to name a couple. DAVE PINO is a rarity in the music business in that he is an awesome talent with a successful past, present and future and yet remains grounded and is always a joy to be around. It is nice Hollywood has not changed him and he has yet to wear a shirt with his face on it since he prefers to have MARIAH CAREY and MOTORHEAD grace his chest. For the second half of the WALTHAM set the members were switched out with KEN SUSI and DEREK KERSWILL from UNEARTH, ALEX FIORENTINO and PETE GOLAN. FRANK PINO rocked his trademark onesie complete with duct tape and what looked like panty liners on his legs. If anyone can pull off that look it is FRANK PINO and what a great way to absorb sweat and have ready for the girly fans that are going to wee themselves in anticipation of the return of WALTHAM. FRANK PINO is one hell of a boy scout! I’ve heard so much about KEN SUSI performing live in UNEARTH that I was excited to photograph some jumps and leaps but all I got was flexing so I guess I will have to wait to photograph him in his natural habitat. Out of all of the bands I have to say that WALTHAM sounded the best and FRANK PINO gives good crooning. The rest of the night consisted of karaoke and more music but if you ask me the party ended after WALTHAM left the stage. Thanks for a memorable New Year’s Eve!!
